Chassidy Mann

Therapist

Chassidy C. Mann, MSW graduated with a Master’s Degree in social work and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, both from the University of Georgia. Her work is trauma-informed, a pursuit that began after working almost 5 years as a crime victim advocate for the Western Judicial Circuit Office of the District Attorney. Working for a prosecutorial office provided diverse insights to the nature of injustice, cultivating Chassidy’s passion for social justice. As an advocate, she worked with survivors and their families around complex issues of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, child abuse, and homicide. Today, she continues to act as an advocate, providing accompaniments to sexual assault forensic medical examinations, forensic interviews, intimate partner violence physical exams, and child physical abuse examinations. She balances this background with experience in community-based health, focusing on clients managing substance use and mental health disorders.

With an energetic spark balanced by candor and compassion, Chassidy approaches therapy from a perspective of empowerment, guiding clients to find and speak their truth. “Compassion and integrity guide my practice. No one person should be judged or condemned by the worst thing (or things) he or she has ever done. We are all deserving of dignity and agency over our lives despite the challenges we have faced.” Her experiences addressing anxiety, depression, personality disorders and acute trauma have led her to develop a nonjudgmental, client-centered practice, where the client is a collaborator in their treatment. She combines DBT methods, Motivational interviewing, Short-term Solution-Focused Therapy, Journal Therapy, and processing techniques to provide a supportive but effective foundation for therapy. “My goal is to assist clients in building a stable foundation to confront and challenge their limiting beliefs.”

Building self-worth is a cornerstone to the therapeutic relationship and key to recovery. Chassidy believes that collaborating with clients in their recovery creates an empowering dynamic for sustained progress. “I allow my clients to be their most authentic selves. During early recovery, repressed issues emerge without warning; I believe it is critical to allow my clients to emote and process in whatever way allows them to reconnect with who they are as individuals.” By using a strengths-based philosophy, she helps her clients uncover what makes them truly unique to live their lives with more purpose and greater perspective.
