Anesthesia Professionals Curriculum & Approach to Care

Serenity Grove was founded by and is operated by anesthesia professionals for anesthesia professionals. It is no secret that the rate of substance use disorder among our ranks is greater than the norm. Nor is it any surprise that an anesthesia care-team properly trained and experienced in the treatment, recovery, and re-entry of impaired anesthesia providers can provide the level of understanding, empathy, and client-centric care you require.

Our anesthesia provider clinical care team at Serenity Grove is comprised of CRNAs and Anesthesiologists uniquely qualified to treat addiction in the anesthesia population. As American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) member clinicians, we use ASAM guidelines to tailor a plan unique to the specific problem-set and needs of each anesthesia professional seeking help from our organization. We welcome and serve all anesthesia providers:

  • Anesthesia Administrators
  • Anesthesia Educators
  • Anesthesiologists & Anesthesiologist's Assistants
  • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists
  • Pain Management Physicians & Staff

Addiction and substance abuse treatment can be complex, especially in cases of impaired anesthesia professionals.  As anesthesia professionals, we have a firm grasp on the pharmacology and unique drugs of abuse that can present with the impaired anesthesia provider. Mainstream addiction treatment programs are often ill-equipped to handle clients suffering from addictions to propofol, ketamine, volatile anesthetics, nitrous oxide, and other agents unique to anesthesia practice. At Serenity Grove’s Anesthesia Professionals Program, we understand these issues and are prepared to deal with them head-on.

Our care team consists of American Society of Addiction Medicine member clinicians, who are experienced and prepared to work with human resource personnel, licensing boards, professional societies and government agencies, as appropriate, to get the impaired professionals under our care on the road to recovery and onto a re-entry path, and back to work or licensure as quickly as possible and with the tools for long-term compliance.

Our anesthesia rehab program treats the immediate needs of the anesthesia professional, creates a foundation for long-term compliance, and prepares a plan for achieving the professional, personal, and familial goals of each individual client in our care. Our experience with regard to matters of self-reporting and peer assistance issues can be a great help to any anesthesia provider with questions about these matters.

Discretion, Confidentiality, & Advocacy

Discretion & Confidentiality

Aside from receiving the specialized care that meets the unique needs of the impaired anesthesia professional, we find that no issue is of more concern to our professional clients than discretion. At Serenity Grove, we understand the need for privacy and we are HIPPA compliant and we meet or exceed the legal standard that pertains to most programs.

Our program is located in Athens, GA, a vibrant, multi-cultural university town, well known for the music scene that has spawned a rich pageant of musical and artistic notables. Numerous private and public amenities available in our community are a welcoming comfort to the professional seeking alcohol and/or drug addiction treatment. We incorporate these serene and uplifting sanctuaries of nature and art into many of our experiential therapies. The discretion of the area is simply a wonderful bonus and allows clients to focus 100% of their attention on the treatment program, without fear or apprehension of being recognized that comes with some high-traffic resort areas.

Advocacy

At Serenity Grove, we aren't just your world-class treatment provider, we are your advocate for life. Our Professionals Program clinicians and support staff are well-versed in the intricacies of re-entry, consent orders, and other requirements and monitoring that will be required by licensing bodies, certification boards and/or employers. We are in contact with our Anesthesia Professionals Program alumni frequently with a laser-like focus, which bolsters our client's personal commitment to long-term success and compliance. Although we cannot do your part for you, we can provide plentiful support and remain committed as your recovery and professional compliance resource and advocate for your entire recovery journey.

We are committed to answering questions or concerns, and offer our assurance that each inquiry will be handled in the strictest confidence and without cost or obligation. You may speak with an anesthesia provider member of our team upon request. We will not ask you for your last name or identifying information for such inquiries.
